Okay well here is the BIGGEST overrated anime since DBZ. Its about a typical boy named shinji who is caught up in huge conflict. For you see the main character lives in a world where "angels" (You are never told WHY they are called angels though) are constantly trying to attack the underground city tokyo-3. Shinji's dad leads a secret organization called NERV to fight against them. Here at NERV they must have like 12 year olds pilot the EVA's for VERY odd reasons. Shinji gets stuck piloting Unit-01 because Rei, 00's pilot, got hurt and they need someone to beat up the "angels". So shinji complains about his dad not loving him and stuff. But he does it anyway. He goes out and now we get to see one of the "most well thought out battles of all anime". Also known as shinji complaining... BUT WAIT something happens, the angel attacks!!! Thus hurting shinji's arm so shinji complains about that too. Then it shots through the head and the EVA-01 goes psycho and hits the angels core with a sharp stick thus killing it. Insert typical characters. Whiney boy, full of it girl, quiet girl, giant robot building dad, scientist lady and a fruit and you have the EVA cast which I might add is NOT a unique cast I mean MAZINGER-Z had those (It came out in like the early 70's).
So now you are wondering why do people say it has an INTENSE plot line that no one understands but them. Well here is, the last 2 episodes explanation. THE ONLY eps that even comes remotely close to having a plot.
INTENSE SPOILERS (not really)
1. Shinji pilots to make he have a point in life.
2. Shinji kills all the angels no need for a pilot now.
3. Shinji learns he can have a life besides piloting and is now happy
BAM thats IT!!!
So when you hear people saying stuff like this
"It changed my views on life"
"I used to be a hardcore Christian and now I am having second thoughts"
"It explode my brain"
"oh my god I never thought so hard to understand the last episode of any show before this"
They are just being dumb.
Overall- 6/10 decent giant robots shows watch if you want too but I dont recommend it.
Oh yes as for the movies the first one is a clip movie (nothing new) and EOE SUCKED BEYOND BELIEF. Its a bloody porn film where you see a giant naked monster 3 eyed Rei, giant evil mouths, Shinji jack off to asuka's comatose body, and junk like that.
OVERALL- SUCKED BEYOND BELIEF!!! 1/10 watch if you want to waste 4 hours of your life.
