SDF-Macross- Ok well you got giant robots, magical girls, Giant 50 foot tall aliens and bam you got the #1 greatest anime show EVER! This show has spawned many sequels (no where near as many as gundam though) that spans from the year 1999-2050.

 

First came the one that started it all SDF- Macross

 

Super Dimensional Fortress Macross- This started it all previously planned to be a parody of the other few Real robot shows of that time (Basically Gundam and Ideon) about 52 eps but after huge financial problems it was cut to 26 eps and got quite AWEFUL animation. This made the show far more serious then previously planned. Macross did what the other real robot shows could not. DID WELL against Japans thousands of super robot shows that had ruled Japan since the days of Tetsujin 28 (in 1964). Gundam flopped and was cancelled at 43 eps instead of the planned 49 (I believe) and while Ideon didn't get cancelled it didn't really attract much attention. Macross did SO well that it got another 10 eps made for it during it's 2nd run. (It first ended on ep 26 Love drifts away or force of arms for you RT fans). Macross ended kinda with people saying WTF!!! WE WANT MORE!!! So Kawamori the froating head said "ok I'll make a movie that will be the most amazing thing since slice bread with a awesome soundtrack."

               Thus Macross Do You Remember Love was made. This movie was basically eps 6-26 smashed together into like 2 hours. But this movie unlike the Gundam compilation movies that used the TV shows animation this used completely NEW animation to make up for the TV shows horrible animation.

               After DYRL people STILL demanded MORE so Kawamori said here's a 30 minute long Music video with about 6 minutes of NEW footage showing what happens to minmei Hikaru and Misa and the new shiny VF-4.
